How To Book Your Charter

Daily Charters Available: Depart 5:30am from Loreto Marina

Trip Duration: Per Hour Charter, 8 Hour Daily Maximum

Follow These Easy Steps to Begin Your Adventure

Step 1: Pick your dates.

We accept reservations March thru September. The early part of the year (March to May) the main species is Yellowtail (YT). The Yellowtail schools are primarily down on the reefs and seamounts in March feeding and preparing to spawn. As the Yellowtail spawn, they will come to the surface, spawn and feed voraciously at the surface. The spawn usually occurs in late April and early May. The YT fishing is consistent when they are on the bottom and really exciting when they come to the surface. The Cabrilla (Sea Bass) also begin their spawn at this time of the year but their spawn is more staggered and may run into June and even July. After May, as the surface temperature rises, the Dorado (Mahi Mahi) begin to travel up the Sea of Cortez. The first schools are smaller in size, followed by the larger schools with bigger fish. As the Dorado come in to the Sea of Cortez, they bring with them the Marlin and Sailfish. We get three type of Marlin (Blue, Black and Striped) as well as Pacific Sailfish that are following and feeding on the Dorado. Blue and Black Marlin are solitary hunter while the Sailfish and Striped Marlin hunt in groups with a coordinated attack. The Sailfish and Striped Marlin are in the 100 - 150 lb. Class and the Blue and Black Marlin are in the 150 - 750 lb. class. I personally caught a 400 lb. Black Marlin last August (2009). I have seen Marlin in the 500-750 lb. range but have never personally caught anything this large in the Sea of Cortez. Chino has caught a 700+ lb. Blue but Marlin in this weight class are rare but not unheard of. Let me tell you, a 150 lb. Marlin is a heck of a 'stand-up' fight.

Step 2: Check availability.

If available, we will hold your charter reservations until you can get a flight booked. Because of the limited phone service, we suggest that the best way to do all this is by email. We can be contacted by or use the contact form or email us at bill@loretoadventures.com. We will normally respond the same day.

Step 3: Book your flight.

Alaska/Horizon and Aeromexico are currently the only carriers that are flying into Loreto (LTO) on a regular basis from the US. Check with the Airlines for their flight schedule (these change based on the season). All the flights are from LAX to LTO. We will update the site on any additional flights as we get more information.

Step 4: Place your Charter Deposit.

Contact us once your flight is confirmed and we will accept the required 25% deposit (Our cancellation policy is listed under the 'Charter' tab). We accept all major credit cards and PayPal. If you would like to call us to discuss, the best phone number is to call me on my cell @ (702) 499-4479. Leave an email or phone message with your number and best time to call and we will call you back.

Step 5: Pay the Charter Balance.

Five days before your arrival in Loreto you can make this final balance due payment using any major credit card or your PayPal Account.

Step 6: Fish.

We will meet you at the Loreto Marina at the start time of your charter. Adventure begins!
